Serge Bondo studied at the University of Kinshasa, where he obtained an engineering degree in Agricultural Sciences for soil and water, and specialized in social forestry and sustainable management of forests of the Congo Basin. After graduating, he worked as a part of the certification team of SOFORMA, a logging company. He was then recruited by the British NGO REM (Resource Extraction Monitoring) as a forestry expert for their Independent Monitoring project, which seeks to improve the governance and enforcement of laws in the DRC forestry sector.
